A great time was had by all at the Turkey Day 5K, 2010 !

Well, it seems as though the prospect of a big holiday meal is a good incentive to exercise.  It was another great turn out for the Turkey Day 5K as 80 people, adults and children alike, showed up bright and early for a little pre-feast workout.  It was a beautiful morning as participants started off on their scenic run.  The children, not to be outdone by their parents, turned in some very impressive performances on their own abbreviated course.  Many of the older children ran along side their parents, showing them a thing or two, forcing many a parent to keep up!  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, participants kindly and generously donated non-perishable food items that were passed on to Catholic Charities for their good use.  Top finishers were rewarded with tasty Thanksgiving themed treats, such as pies, breads, cranberry sauce, applesauce, and cookies.  Indeed, not one cookie made it back to the car as they were consumed right on the spot!  A random drawing of race numbers also gave all participants a chance to take home some of delicacies as well.  The St. John Landsharks would like to thank the National Park Service and St. John Rescue for their presence during the event, as well as the volunteers and all the participants who helped make the event such a success.  We hope to see many of you again for the last event of the year, the Reindeer Ramble on December 19, 2010.
